Since our migration in February from Zoho Campaigns to our new software, Ghost, we've seen a tremendous boost in our analytics capabilities. The enhanced tracking system now provides us with detailed insights—from when an email bounces to the exact moment it's opened. This level of precision empowers us to make data-driven decisions to optimize our email campaigns, ensuring that every email sent counts.

Unparalleled Analytics & Tracking

Our new system with Ghost offers robust analytics, including:

  • Bounce Tracking: Quickly identifies emails that do not reach their intended recipient.
  • Open Rate Monitoring: Tells us exactly when and how many of our emails are being opened.

This granular level of data has equipped us with the tools to understand our audience engagement better than ever before.

Reducing Wasted Email Transactions

To streamline our email operations and reduce unnecessary costs, we have decided to remove listed contacts with 0 – 5% open rates from the migration. This decision is driven by several key reasons:

  • Cost Efficiency:
    Our email provider for APES Newsroom is powered by Mailgun, and each email transaction comes at a cost. By eliminating low-engagement contacts from our migration, we reduce wasted email transactions and ensure that our resources are allocated more effectively.
  • Improved Campaign Performance:
    Contacts that rarely engage with our emails tend to dilute overall performance metrics. Removing these almost inactive users allows us to achieve better deliverability, higher engagement rates, and ultimately, a more reliable sender reputation.
  • Focus on Engaged Audiences:
    By focusing on our most engaged users, we strengthen our connection with the audience that matters. This helps ensure that our newsletters, updates, and promotions continue to reach subscribers who are truly interested in our content and mission.

What About New Signups?

Rest assured, new signups will not be affected by this cleanup. We continue to value every new subscriber who chooses to join our community. This initiative solely concerns the optimization of our existing, historical data to enhance overall email performance and cost management.

Our strategic decision to remove low-engagement contacts is all about maximizing impact and safeguarding our resources. Every email we send incurs a cost through Mailgun, so it’s essential to ensure that our emails are reaching those who actually engage with them. This clean-up process:
